Hopefully, you know that you visit the dentist every 6 months. But there are other signs that mean you may need to visit the dentist before your six-month checkup and here are few things to look out for!
- Pain or sensitivity
If you start to experience any pain or sensitivity in your mouth, or teeth then this is usually a good sign that there is an issue. Living with oral pain can severely affect your life, and you don’t need to do that. If you start feeling pain, the best thing to do is schedule a dental visit as quickly as possible. Don’t ignore pain!
- If any dental appliance isn’t fitting properly
If you have dentures, a bridge, Invisalign, or any other dental appliances, and it starts feeling different or changes, then you should visit the dentist. Many people just try to live with an issue, but instead, you should have it properly fixed!
If your gums are sensitive or bleed when you are brushing, then it is a likely sign of having gum disease. Bleeding is always a sure sign that something is wrong with your oral health and should be taken care of as quickly as possible.
Any injury to your mouth is an instant reason to visit the dentist. The faster you see a dentist, usually the better the repairs or treatment will go. Injuries could be caused by many different things, including sports, falling, etc. Injuries can cause severe damage, and that is why it is always important to wear a mouth guard when doing anything that could include physical contact.
- Six month checkup
Obviously you should also visit the dentist every six months, this will help prevent many different issues that can arise from lack of proper dental care. The best way to prevent these other issues mentioned above, is to visit the dentist regularly.
