Believe it or not, all dentists are not the same. There is a dentist out there who is right for you and your dental needs! Like everyone, you’re probably searching for someone who has a great personality, a fun team surrounding them, and most importantly, happy patients! Is it possible to find someone who checks all of these boxes? Use the list below as a guide when you’re choosing your new dentist.
1. Ask For Recommendations!
The first step? Simply ask your nearby family, friends, and coworkers who they love! Chances are they will have several dentist recommendations for you to research in your area.
You can also ask your primary care doctor or pharmacist if they recommend anyone in their medical circle.
2. Location, Location, Location.
Where is the dentist office located? Is it conveniently close to your home? Is it on the other side of town by your normal shopping spots so you can run errands after? Location is an important factor when choosing your new dentist and dental office.
3. What Are Their Business Hours?
It’s important to keep in mind that some dental offices are closed on Mondays or close earlier in the day at 4:00 pm. Make sure to choose a dentist whose business hours line up with your schedule.
4. Do They Accept Your Insurance?
Perhaps the most important question you should be asking is, “Do they accept my dental insurance?” Be sure to call ahead and ask if your insurance company is in-network with their office. Most dental offices should accept most dental insurance but it never hurts to be prepared before you walk into your appointment.
5. Ask About Cost.
If you call in to a dental office, the receptionist should be able to tell you the average costs of their services ranging from dental cleanings to serious procedures. They should be well-equipped to assist you with any questions you may have!
6. How Is Their Office Space?
Is their office clean? Does their dental equipment seem new or updated? Is everything neat and organized? Look online to see if they have any pictures of their space and if not, you can ask to look around before you book an appointment.
7. Are The Receptionists Friendly?
Are you greeted by a friendly voice on the phone? Is the receptionist happy to answer your questions? The members at the front desk will be your first impression of their office. Usually, if they have an eager and helpful attitude, it will be echoed throughout the rest of the office. This will make all of the difference when choosing your dentist and a dental office.
